Paros
located in the Cyclades south of Mykonos and
west from
Naxos, The terrain is mountainous and the
dismemberment of the coast is smooth, mostly
north, where there is the great gulf of Naousa.
In the western coast there is the smaller Bay of
Parikia. From north to south the island is
crossed by bare mountains, with the highest
Prophet Elias (509 m) and Marpisa (771 m)
located in the middle. On regional there are
areas of lower elevations and two areas of
lowlands, there are many natural harbors.
Paros is one of the most visited islands of the
Cyclades Racing Mykonos and Santorini.
Located south of Mykonos and near the island of
Naxos. The main town and port of Paros, Parikia
in the west coast, while the second largest city
of the island is Naoussa in the eastern part of
the island. One of the main products of the
Parian Marble is known since antiquity.

Paros has been inhabited since early prehistoric
times, in history have passed through here
Minoans, Arcades, Athenians, Macedonians,
Romans, Byzantines, Venetians and Turks, as in

that were released after the Greek revolution.
Near Naoussa is Kolimbithres a stunning beach
with golden sand and beautiful beach.
In Parikia is the famous Byzantine church of the
one Hundred Gates (Ekatontapyliani)
one of the most famous churches in the Cyclades
and the ruins of a Venetian castle of the 8th
century. It is worth visiting the Archaeological
Museum of Paros with important artefacts from
the Cycladic period, classical Greek and Roman
period and the Venetian castle in Parikia. One
of the most famous monasteries of the island is
that of Logovardas and the Monastery of Christ
near the butterfly valley, another attraction of
the island. The fifteenth of August, the island
has a lot of people because of the feast of Our
Lady for this reason it is good to have closed
your accommodation and flights before.
In
the small streets of
Naoussa and Parikia, the visitor will find
many shops, greengrocers, bakeries,
restaurants, cafes, bars and shops selling
souvenirs and Greek art. The
Paros nightlife is also lively with a
variety of shops and bars with Greek and foreign
music. Paros has many fertile valleys and
beautiful sandy beaches and crystal clear water,
houses built in typical Cycladic architecture
and an excellent tourist infrastructure.
The island has good roads and transportation,
Paros also has an airport that is located near
Pounda and Alyki. During the summer there are
many daily ferries from Piraeus and other
islands of the Cyclades and the
Dodecanese. Among the most famous
beaches of Paros is the beach of golden
coast, ideal for windsurfing, the beach near
Naoussa Kolimbithres, Drios, Piso Livadi near
Marpissa and more. Paros has a cosmopolitan
atmosphere and offers many
sports and activities like
kite boarding and horse riding. Some of the
beaches are ideal for
windsurfing and diving. The island has a
long tradition in tourism and its infrastructure
